Goals for 2000
By Bruce Anderson, VP-BE
As we enter the year 2000 the job of communicating is again our responsibility. I have served PROBE as a judge for 12 years and have seen many improvements and I feel that the organization is in very good condition. What needs to happen is a continued commitment to improve our organization and to gain even more recognition.
There are several goals that I see that need to be set for myself and for the bulletin editor section of PROBE:
- Solicit new judges into the cadre of judges. We need new judges to add to the number of judges and to lessen the work of those judges who already have served well. It would also give us a fresh new look and ideas.
- To establish a recertification procedure for those established judges. This would keep our judges up on the latest changes and also allow us to keep our judging more consistent from one judge to another judge. This should be done in all categories and on a periodic basis, such as every two or three years.
- Establish and continue communication between judges and officials of PROBE and communication between districts and district contest coordinators. A good communication has been started and this needs to be continued with an increased importance.
- Develop and encourage a system of recognition for various levels of competition. This would include awards for novice editors at both the International level and district level. Also recognize members of PROBE who give service to the organization. This is already being done and needs to be continued and perhaps expanded. Everyone likes to be thanked for a job well done.
These are only four goals and perhaps they are already in place. If this is the case I would suggest that they be reinforced and expanded. I may see new thing develop as my term in office progresses and may add to this list.
These are only my thoughts as I begin this service to the Society and to PROBE.
Thank you for listening and putting your trust in me for the upcoming year.
