What's happenin'

A bird's eye view of the Scioto Valley Chorus

TO OUR VERY MOST FAVORITE FANS:

We have several performances and fundraisers scheduled this quarter, so why not plan to be a part of the fun!!!.

Many of our members would agree that our most favorite performance each year is THE SCIOTO VALLEY CHORUS SINGING VALENTINES - Quartets and small groups from the chorus will be gracing the streets of Columbus and surrounding areas delivering heart-felt valentine messages to loved ones.  If you haven't chosen that special something for that special someone, give us a call to reserve a valentine at 1-877-297-5349, email us at sciotovalleychorus@gmail.com, or visit our website at www.harmonize.com/svc.

Hold the date - February 20 - 21.  The Scioto Valley Chorus has been invited to participate in Columbus' first A cappella Festival.    Following our 1st place win in the Division AA International competition, held in Nashville in October, we received an invitation to participate in this first-time event.  Other headliners in this festival include the Groove Barbers (an a ccappella rock and soul quartet), Bexley High School Vocal Ensemble, The Columbus Children's Choir, and the Capital Chordsmen from Capital University.  The event will be Saturday, February 20, at 7 pm, and Sunday, February 21 at 3 pm.  To order tickets call 614-220-5555, or purchase them at the door.  Ticket prices are: $20.  Prices are  $15 for students, Seniors, Nationwide employees, and families of performers.

We are extremely proud to have been invited to participate.  Much has been happening in the world of Sweet Adelines, with the performances of Maxx Factor on a nationwide TV competition, a wonderful piece done on the Today show about the Greater Nassau Chorus, articles in prestigious magazines, etc.  We feel the public is "noticing" us in a way that's never happened before - it's very exciting!

Next on our calendar - April 12 is our "Family and Friends Concert", our send off for our annual spring competition.  The concert will be held at our rehearsal site at the Northwest Presbyterian Church in Dublin.  You are all invited and it is free!   The chorus as well as our competing quartets will be performing their contest packages.  You are the best audience in the world to "try our skills" on.  Please come cheer us on.

REGIONAL COMPETITION - April 15 - 18.  Scioto Valley performs on Saturday, April 17 at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center in Covington, Ky.  Sessions are open to the public, so come on down - we'd love to see you there.

Keep your eyes peeled for our Annual Show - It will be sometime in October.  We will keep you posted!!

SVC Fund Raisers

We have valuable info available through our website whereby donations to SVC can be made.  Log on to our website, www.harmonize.com/svc, and read the first page carefully for the following Fund Raisers:

* New Risers
* iGive.com (see the right hand margin)
* Kroger Community Rewards (also check out the right hand margin)

To date we have raised more than $4000 toward the purchase of new risers.  Our present ones have been with us since the birth of SVC more than 22 years ago, and like some of us, they are getting a little "creaky!"

iGive.com is a great national network which donates portions of online sales to non-profit organizations - and they have a list of hundreds of stores/places of business.  If you're a person who orders online for any reason, please check out this fabulous site.  Even if you don't actually buy anything, we, SVC, still get 1-2 pennies each time iGive is used to search.

The Kroger program is also awesome!  Anyone who shops at Kroger has a Kroger plus card...our SVC website shows you how to sign up to donate a portion of your purchases to our wonderful chorus.

In addition to the Big Three mentioned above, we also sponsored our first ever Golf Outing last summer.  We had so much fun that this May we plan on having another.  Date, time, and place TBA.

Feel free to e-mail or call me with any questions you have concerning our various money making projects.
Love to all,

Linda Sharp, Funds Development Manager
