It's the chapter, not the chorus

By W. Grant Carson

I read many bulletins that proclaim in the nameplate things like "The Final Note" and "Official Bulletin of the Song of the Chattahoochee Chorus." Wrong!

"The Final Note" is the official bulletin (are there any unofficial ones?) of the Riverview Chapter, not the "Song of the Chattahoochee Chorus." The chorus doesn't publish the bulletin. The chapter does. Correct would be "The Final Note" and "Bulletin of the Riverview Chapter with the 'Song of the Chattahoochee Chorus.'"

In Sweet Adelines International, the chapter and the chorus are the same thing. But we're different. In the Barbershop Harmony Society, the chapter is much more that just the chorus. There is even one quartet chapter that doesn't have a chorus. The distinction is worth making.
