Bulletin contest - 1999By Bruce T. Anderson, VP BULLETIN EDITORSThe year 1999 has come to a close and we are into the new century - 2000. Whether or not the millennium starts with 2000 or 2001 is better left up to those who want to debate the issue. I am sure that the year 1999 produced many exciting experiences in chapters across the nation. It is my hope that each chapter has made a permanent record of these experiences in a chapter bulletin. Whether or not that bulletin is two or four pages or it is one of the bulletins that has 16 pages of articles, as editors enter your bulletin in a contest in your district. The district contest is more than a contest - it is an opportunity for a bulletin editor to have his bulletin looked at by a critical eye and then be given positive remarks to make his bulletin better. All of our judges give or take off points for various categories and arrive at a point total to come up with a best bulletin. They also give comments to editors to help them make their bulletins more readable and more exciting for their readers and members. Just as a chorus enters into a contest to perform to their best ability, a bulletin editor enters his bulletin into a contest to put his best production in front of a panel to get suggestions that will help him put out a better bulletin. If you as an editor did not enter this year's contest but would still like to have your bulletin reviewed for comments and suggestions, all you have to do is give one of the judges a call or write him a letter and he will gladly review your bulletin in the category that you wish to have help with. If you don't know any judges, contact your District Contest Coordinator or the Vice President for Bulletin Editors and he can put you in touch with a judge. If you are already publishing a bulletin, keep up the good work! Your members will appreciate your hard work and you and your chapter will reap the benefits.
