Meet PROBE's Webmaster

Our Very Worthy and Honorable President Waldo Redekop has long had an ambition to replace the previous, defunct PROBE web site with the wind chimes wallpaper with a new one. At the Atlanta convention I was sitting with the IRC barbershop chat room crowd and mentioned to Rae Phillips (yes, she of the infamous rating not ranking article in this journal) our dilemma.

She said, "Talk to Arnie." Since Arnie was sitting in the next row back, I laid before him Waldo's ambition and our dilemma. He simply said, "OK." There was no exploration of the depth of the job, just a simple commitment. "OK."

Arnie has been a wonder. He investigated all the ways PROBE could get on the web, with all the options, including Society sponsorship (not available), all priced. He found a way to get us on the web the best way - free, thanks to Steve DeNino and harmonize.com.

Who is this paragon of virtue, Arnie Wade, who slaked Waldo's thirst and solved PROBE's dilemma?

Well, first of all, he's an awfully nice guy. If you're online, visit with him at the IRC barbershop chat room and I think you'll agree.

Second, he does have a life outside of barbershop. He's Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Counseling Services at Georgia College and State University, Milledgeville, Georgia. (Dr. Arnie, if you please.) Although his family was into close harmony, he didn't take the bait until later in life. He was dragged to a chapter meeting by members of his church choir, many being members of the local chapter.

He has been a lead in registered quartets Supertonics, The Fourth Estate, Shades of Yesterday and Southern Accents. He has sung with choruses Evansville Songfellows (under the direction of legendary Mac Huff), Lafayette Tippecanotes Chorus, Duluth Harbormasters, Abilene The Memory Men and Macon Heart of Georgia.

There's more. In Lafayette, Indiana, he directed an SAI chorus. In Duluth, he directed the Harbormasters. In Macon, he directed Heart of Georgia.

By the way, he's been a bulletin editor.

Pretty good credentials for a guy who just said "OK," don't you think?
