PROBE events, updateBy Waldo Redekop, PresidentIn PROBE, we have many hard-working volunteers. I have said this before. It is becoming truer all the time. You will have noticed that we have a new editor of the PROBEmoter. Our previous editor, Tom Pearce, informed me that he would not be producing any issues after he had published the previous issue. Tom had produced the last four great issues of the PROBEmoter. Thanks for all of your hard work, Tom. You always kept them to the high standards that you set which allowed you to win the IBC for your chapter's bulletin. Your PROBEmoters were a good example for PROBE. We were very fortunate to have found another editor in a short time with a lot of experience in PROBE. Shortly after Tom resigned, John Petterson volunteered to take over the editorship of this vital organ of communications for PROBE. John currently publishes the Central States District Serenade and an article introducing him is on page one in this issue of the PROBEmoter. I know that all of the members will be looking forward to receiving their issues since you have always produced such interesting issues for your readers.
PROBE WebmasterAt the meeting in Atlanta, I mentioned that we required a webmaster to get a presence for PROBE on the web. I know that there are many of you who do not know what I am writing about. There also are many who know what I mean, but don't yet have the equipment to allow you to get on the Internet. However, more members of PROBE are becoming able to check out the Internet each year. I am pleased to report that we have a webmaster, Arnie Wade (an article introducing him appears elsewhere in this issue) who has done a wonderful job. If you are able to, check it out at http//www.harmonize.com/PROBE/ and see for yourself all of the useful information that Arnie has placed on it. Thanks go to PROBE Vice President for Bulletin Editors Grant Carson for all of the help and advice that he is giving to Arnie on this project. They are currently working on getting some clipart on the web page so that editors or marketing people will be able to download them for use in their productions.
Judges neededAs I started to say, we have many hard-working volunteers. I am also pleased to say that we are getting a few more judges for the bulletin editor contests. Unfortunately, we have also had a few judges who have had to quit judging due to many reasons, most being related to ill health. So, we still need many more judges. If you would like to become a judge, contact either Grant or me and we will put you in touch with the category specialist in the area in which you are interested. Of course, I was honoured to have presented many certificates to the judges who had been judging for five, 10 or 15 years at the meeting in Atlanta. To those who were not present I sent the certificates. Thanks to all of you who have written to me about them. I still am planning on replying to all of you as soon as I get a chance. To those judges in the grammar and style category, I am sorry for the misprint. Only one of you notified me of this. I have found some blank certificates like the ones that were issued to you but require another package. As soon as I am able to locate them, I'll try to set up the fonts and replicate them and send corrected certificates to you. They may be slightly different, but I'll try. However, as the judge who noticed it said, it is interesting that the typo would appear in the certificates for this category. I know those of you who received them will now be reading them and seeing what I am writing about. I know, the rest of you noticed the error but were too kind to mention it. So, to all of those mentioned above and the other volunteers who have not been mentioned, thanks. If you have an interest in helping out in any way, any of the executive would be happy to hear from you. Our addresses and telephone numbers may be found in the masthead on page two. One of the jobs that no one has volunteered for yet is the historian's job. Any takers?
