The Novice Contest was originally a tradition of the
Westminster Chapter to encourage the formation of new quartets. Now continued by the Orange Quartet Chapter, this contest
continues to provide a unique opportunity to gain experience in the
Barbershop Harmony Society's contest and judging system. Standard contest rules and experienced judges are employed
along with a handicapping system that de-emphasizes previous contest
experience. For the audience, there is the excitement of hearing for
the first time quartets that may eventually achieve barbershopping's
highest honors. |
