Important message:
For many years we in the Northeastern District have been able to provide the Harmony Explosion Camp experience to area youth and educators at no cost to them. However, the financial realities of rising costs and an expanded program have necessitated that we move (as many other districts have already been doing for years) to a paid model. Thanks to the generous support of local barbershoppers and the tireless volunteer efforts of many, we are still able to offer the camp at a price far below comparable camps - in fact, about one third of the actual cost per person. Tuition for the 2011 camp has been set by the board of directors at $129 per camper, payable at time of registration. Students who may need additional financial assistance are encouraged to contact their local barbershop chapters.
Open to all high-school aged singers, HX Camp provides top-notch vocal coaching and choral instruction in one dynamic weekend! Join approximately eighty other young men or young women on the risers to learn and perform a variety of a cappella vocal music, both barbershop harmony and traditional TTBB or SSAA literature, all under the direction of our oustanding guest conductors and clinicians. Get quartet coaching or participate in vocal workshops, sing some tags at the picnic or the ice cream social, and share the stage with international champion quartets for the final concert. Get a taste of campus life as you sleep in the college dormitories and take your meals in the college cafeteria at beautiful Worcester State College.
Teachers and Music Education Majors: HX Camp also has a special program for vocal teachers and collegiate MENC members! Observe rehearsals, attend special workshop sessions led by our guest clinicians, and sing in the educators' chorus! A fantastic summer professional development opportunity!
