HX Camp Main Page

Open to all high-school aged singers, HX Camp provides top-notch vocal coaching and choral instruction in one dynamic weekend! Join approximately eighty other young men or young women on the risers to learn and perform a variety of a cappella vocal music, both barbershop harmony and traditional TTBB or SSAA literature, all under the direction of our oustanding guest conductors and clinicians. Get quartet coaching or participate in vocal workshops, sing some tags at the picnic or the ice cream social, and share the stage with international champion quartets for the final concert. Get a taste of campus life as you sleep in the college dormitories and take your meals in the college cafeteria at beautiful Worcester State College. Best of all, every participant attends on 100% scholarship (!), sponsored by chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society and Harmony, Inc. All you need to secure your spot is a $20 deposit, which can be applied toward tickets for the Saturday evening show.

Teachers and Music Education Majors: HX Camp also has a special program for vocal teachers and collegiate MENC members! Observe rehearsals, attend special workshop sessions led by our guest clinicians, and sing in the educators' chorus! This year we have Dr. Bill Adams as our dedicated educators' clinician - he'll conduct a vocal health seminar and lead special workshop/discussion sessions throughout the weekend, as well as direct the educators' chorus. A fantastic summer professional development opportunity, and at no cost to you beyond your $20 deposit (and any transportation costs, of course).
