MEET STEVE & BARB

That’s Steve in the “Sailor Suit” and Barb in “Black Satin” performing with their mixed quartet “Easy Lis’nin’” at the Craig, CO, Sweet Adelines Int’l annual show in February 2001. Easy Lis’nin’ has cut a CD with some great Big Band music in it. You can get those same arrangements from Steve.

Steve has been a Barbershopper since 1967 and a Certified Judge since 1980. He has judged the International Contest 11 times. Steve served on the Category Board of Review for most of his judging years and was the Music Category Specialist for 2002-2004. In 2005 he was awarded the C&J program “Award of Excellence.” Steve has served as faculty at Judging Category School, Harmony College, Directors' College, and many District HEP and Top Gun Schools. He is a competitor who has sung and/or directed at Division, District, and Internationals many times. Steve has coached numerous championship quartets and choruses (and aspiring champs) in BHS, SAI, BABS, LABBS, NZABS, AAMBS, & Harmony Inc. He has arranged over 200 charts (including Alexandria’s popular “Summertime”) and SPEBSQSA, Inc. has published several of his arrangements. Steve has also served as the Barbershop Society liaison to the ICCA (International Championship of Collegiate Acappela) and developed their “Single Category” judging system.

Barb has been a Sweet Adeline since 1973. She has directed numerous choruses as well as acted as Choreographer, Section Leader, and Music Team Specialist. She has also served on Regional Musical Faculty. Barb has competed at Regional and Internationals many times and has won Regional quartet championships and with High Time and Brillante (Region 8), and Regional Chorus Championships with Farmington Valley (Region 1), Skyline (Region 8), Yankee Maids (Region 1), and currently Spirit of the Gulf (Region 9) International 7^th place chorus. Barb has judged Young Women in Harmony (YWIH) contests and coached YWIH champion quartets, Regional Champion Quartets, and Regional Champion Choruses around the world.
