We are a group of women who love to sing! We love the fellowship with other  women, the challenge of working hard to put together an entertaining musical performance, the satisfaction of accomplishing a worthy goal, and the  pleasure of performing. Our members range in age from 20's to retired, from teachers and homemakers to office workers and book keepers, and from musical novices to musical experts. We sing barbershop music - an exciting style of unaccompanied four-part vocal harmony. And, most importantly, we have a great time doing it!

“In February of Fifty-Six, Ethel Murphy flipped the switch, And in her home on this first night, our ‘Harmony' would scare the mice!” (from the pages of the Hutchinson Sweet Adeline scrapbook)  In 1956 Mrs. Ethel Murphy moved to Hutchinson from Wichita, where she had been a member of the local Sweet Adelines chapter.  She was apparently determined to organize the 6th Kansas chapter in her new hometown. A classified notice in the Hutchinson News brought 15 prospective members to that first meeting in February 1956. On July 23, 1956, the Hutchinson Chapter of Sweet Adelines was chartered. Current membership is 40 members. Regional honors for outstanding performances have been received by both the chorus and quartets over the years. At present, members are looking forward to bigger and better accomplishments. With each doing her part, we hope to live our motto and help "Harmonize the World" !
