A Barbershop Isn't Just For Haircuts.

At about the turn of the 19th century, in some small town with but one barbershop and an unending line of inpatient customers, it is rumored that a few unknown musically creative men, awaiting their turn for the barber's chair, wiled away the time by entertaining themselves, the other customers, and experimenting together in song.

They developed a harmony that was smooth, unique, and captivating.  Well, the rest is history and the harmony of Barbershop singing continues to this day.  Perhaps you still remember hearing the Buffalo Bills'  Barbershop harmony in the musical classic, The Music Man.

Our High Country Harmonizers of Blairsville Ga., follows that tradition both in our chorus and our quartets.  We perform an annual show for the community, Valentine's day sing outs, Christmas sing outs, Birthday singouts, and many other special events.

We invite any male who enjoys singing to experience our Tuesday evening chorus practice at 6:30pm at the Blairsville Methodist Church on Hwy 515.  Trust me, you won't be disappointed, as these are foot tapping sessions.  Age is irrelevant, but enjoyment of song and harmony is required.

The High Country Harmonizers is a non-profit, community minded organization, a member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, and is now building a scholarship program.  For more information
