V.S was originally formed as a one-time educational quartet to sing for a local high school and has never stopped singing since! V.S. has traveled to Germany, Holland, Sweden, Russia, England and throughout the United States singing for various shows and conventions as well as teaching high school students about barbershop harmony. In July of 2004, Vocal Spectrum won the 2004 International Collegiate Quartet Contest held in Louisville, KY. They placed 6th at the International Men’s Quartet Contest in July of 2005. And in 2006 VS won the coveted Men’s International Quartet Championship! becoming the first quartet to win all 3 possible medals (Collegiate Quartet, Men’s Quartet, and Chorus Medal)

Zing! - the Sweet Adelines International 2006 5th Place Quartet - enjoys “zinging” songs. The powerful voices of Zing!, Michelle Hunget (Tenor), Susan Ives (Lead), Karen Koch (Baritone), and Melynnie Williams (Bass), bring an energy and excitement to their performances that audiences find contagious. This award winning quartet has won all of their regional contests together, and are on the trail of an international championship.

Kim Hulbert is one of the best known and instantly recognized women in the field of barbershop harmony. She has been Musical Director of the San Diego Chorus of Sweet Adelines since 1985 and under her dynamic and knowledgeable leadership the San Diego Chorus has won seven Regional Championship medals, numerous International medals and the International Gold medal in Portland, Oregon. Kim’s talents lie not only in her directing and teaching skills, but also in her performance accomplishments. She has three times won the coveted International Champion title, the first woman to ever do so, first in 1976 with High Society, then in 1988 with Savvy and most recently in 2001 with A Cappella Gold. Her work as a voice teacher and experience in barbershop harmony, have made Kim a very popular coach and adjudicator as well as faculty member for barbershop music schools around the world. Her contributions have resulted in a host of male and female medallists and champions.

Cindy Hansen has been coaching men’s and women’s choruses and quartets since her days as a student at Western Michigan University. A third generation “Barbershop Brat,” she started singing with a Sweet Adelines chorus in 1981 and was soon coaching quartets and choruses in her region. She has now worked successfully with many championship quartets and choruses. She has designed numerous Gold Medal Packages, including four for The Masters of Harmony and five for The Vocal Majority and has worked with the International Champion San Diego Women’s Chorus. Her coaching, which includes creating and designing visual packages and what she calls “enhansenments,” has taken her all over the world, and she has been a guest faculty member at both Harmony College and the International Education Symposium.
