ABOUT US

Our quartet, the Harmony GRITS, consists of members of the Barber Chair
High Country Harmonizers Chorus, located in Blairsville, GA., a registered chapter of the International Barbershop Harmony Society.

Pictured from the left rear:

Lloyd Dunham, bass, who joined the High Country Harmonizers Chorus in 2001 and is a charter member.

Beside him is Jerry Hobbs, baritone, (not a charter member) who joined the chorus in 2002.

Far right is Hal Callaway, lead, who joined the High Country Harmonizers chorus in 2001 and is another charter member.

Seated in front is Donn (yes -- 2 n's) Smith, tenor, who has been singing Barbershop Harmony for a long, LONG time. He is one of the men who helped form the High Country Harmonizer chapter in 2001, and is therefore considered a very special charter member.

Without divulging specifics, our combined ages reach nearly 300. Therefore, in case you're wondering and can't read the right side of our web page banner, above, without a magnifying glass, the 'GRITS' of Harmony GRITS, stands for

In mid-July of 2009, we were first place winners of the novice quartet First Prizecontest, at the Dixie Lakeside Harmony Weekend at Clemson University. Okay, if you don't believe me, just take a look at the plaque at the left. We really did win.

We perform at birthdays, nursing homes, singing Valentines and other functions in the Tri-State area of north Georgia, southwestern North Carolina & eastern Tennessee. We've also been known to serenade patrons in restaurants before, during and after a meal. Yes, we do like to sing barbershop harmony.

And just for fun, we sometimes throw in a little comedy. Okay, okay, we sometimes throw in a LOT of comedy.
