Highland Drive Facility Stars and Stripes Forever March--Turn up the sound

In 1989, the late Joe Knittel, of the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter, and bass of the Daytimers Quartet had a dream - to teach patients at various Pittsburgh area VA hospitals to sing barbershop style music. Accordingly, the Highland Barbershoppers was formed that same year.

Twenty One years and 990 rehearsals/performances later the Highland Barbershoppers are still going strong, having competed with choruses from 214 other VA facilities while compiling 5 first place medals, 3 second place medals and never falling out of the top three!  In addition, they have thrilled many hundreds of fellow vets, their families and hospital staffs from coast to coast by performing in four Creative Arts Festivals.

Approximately 45 members of the Greater Pittsburgh and North Hills Chapters have thus far accrued over 45,000 volunteer hours in this endeavor.

Barbershop Harmony Society members in the Pittsburgh area are invited to join this singing group. Rehearsals are held at the Aspinwall facilities, Highland Drive or Southwest Facility every Wednesday morning at 10:00 or 10:30 o'clock.
