The award-winning Grand Harmony Chorus is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a nonprofit music education association for women. Made up of teachers, nurses, legal assistants, bookkeepers, artists, therapists, students and homemakers, among others, Grand Harmony entertains audiences with exceptional 4-part a cappella harmony, innovative choreography and dazzling costumes. The chorus invites any women who love to sing, wants to have fun, make new friends and discover the magical world of ensemble singing to be our guest and visit a rehearsal. The chorus rehearses every Tuesday night at Parkwood Mennonite Home (726 New Hampshire, Waterloo ON), 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM Sweet
Adelines is more than a group of singing women. It is a few hours a
week of freedom, a slice of life that is yours alone, a place to let
loose with the ladies, build true friendships, and sing your hearts out,
and for most, it’s where you can go to find the motivation, inspiration,
encouragement and happiness to fill you up for the week.

Sweet Adelines International is a highly respected worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance. This independent, non-profit music education association is one of the world's largest singing organizations for women. Members extend over five continents and belong to more than 500 choruses and 1,200 quartets. Today's Sweet Adelines choruses and quartets sing exciting a cappella, four-part harmony music, barbershop style. The music includes special arrangements of today's ballads and upbeat songs, popular show tunes, and even jazz. Members say that singing the powerfully balanced sounds of barbershop harmony provides a rich, rewarding experience. Each spring, the region holds an annual competition in which choruses and registered quartets of the region compete. We belong to Region 2, which includes chapters from Southern Ontario and Michigan. This is a wonderful experience and all the preparation that goes into our competition package helps us improve our vocal and performing skills. The winners of the regional contests go on to compete at the international level.
