Grand Harmony is very fortunate to have Ruth Carmichael as its director.  Ruth lives in a small community west of London with husband Dougal.  They have 3 grown children (all boys!) and are very blessed with 9 grandchildren (5 boys and 4 girls!).

A Sweet Adeline for 30+ years, she started out singing with the Chatham Chorus (Kent County) and also directed them for about 3 years.

Ruth has a broad barbershop and musical background.  She has served as an assistant director with the London Chorus, been a section leader, an experienced choreographer, a quartet member, an assistant director and has even done some coaching.  She has sung lead, tenor and is currently taking on the most challenging “baritone” part (but insists she really enjoys it!)

Directing Grand Harmony Chorus since 2005, Ruth has led our chorus to numerous regional medal standings.  During our 2010 Regional Competition, the chorus scored enough points to have Ruth earn her designation as a “Master Director”.
