Men’s Chorus Hosts an Open House Naperville, IL – April 25, 2012 - - The Chorus of Du Page, a men’s barbershop chorus, will host a guest night from 7 to 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 815 South Washington Street, just south of Edward Hospital in Naperville. The group’s January guest night was such a success that the group is repeating the event and extending an invitation to men of all ages to attend a night of singing, refreshments and camaraderie. The chorus is looking for men who value the joy of singing. Experienced singers and new singers are invited to share this evening to learn more about barbershop music and the activities of the Chorus of Du Page. Music, laugher and friendship are just a few of the things one will experience with the Chorus of Du Page. If you are a man who likes to sing, this is your chance to experience the joy of four-part harmony in barbershop style and to learn more about how your involvement in this wonderful hobby can bring not only personal satisfaction, but also listening pleasure to hundreds of audience members. This opportunity is especially for you. The Chorus of Du Page is one of more than 800 Barbershop Harmony Society men’s choruses throughout North America that meet regularly to practice, socialize, perform and sing a cappella harmony in barbershop style. Their repertoire includes special arrangements of today’s ballads and upbeat songs, popular show tunes, inspirational hymns, patriotic songs and, of course, old-time barbershop favorites. Singing the satisfying sounds of barbershop harmony provides a rich, rewarding experience. The chorus performs throughout the Chicagoland area at parades, fairs and festivals. They also perform at senior citizen centers and private entertainment venues. Naperville, IL – April 18, 2012 - - Craig Ahlgrim is the new musical director of the Chorus of Du Page, a men’s barbershop chorus that celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011. Prior to his appointment, Craig’s directorial experience with Illinois based men’s barbershop choruses was as director of the Aurora Lamplighters and as assistant director with The West Towns Chorus. Craig is a third generation barbershopper. His father and both grandfathers sang barbershop. Both his sister and his wife sing barbershop with the woman’s Sweet Adelines. A 22-year veteran of signing barbershop, Craig brings a wealth of barbershop experience to his leadership role with the Chorus of Du Page. The quartet, Jukebox, that he and his father sing with placed in the top 10 at the Illinois District Barbershop Quartet competition. For three of the past seven years Craig has been part of an Illinois District first place championship quartet. In 2006, Craig sang tenor with the Illinois District Quartet Champion, Stolen Bases. In 2009, again as a tenor, he was with that year’s Illinois District Quartet Champion, Off the Record. Last year, 2011, he switched to baritone and once again finished in first place as part of the Illinois District Quartet Champion, Waldorf Hair Company. Not only is Craig a three time Illinois District Men’s Quartet champion, but he also sang with his sister Wendy as part of a mixed quartet, the Skinkers, who were a Mid-America Barbershop Quartet Expo Champion. "One of my motivations for joining the Chorus of Du Page is how they operate in such a smooth and professional manner” said Craig Ahlgrim. “They make anyone feel welcome."

The Chorus of Du Page was founded in 1961 in Naperville, Illinois. The Chorus performs regularly at private, public and charitable venues throughout DuPage County and surrounding communities. Rehearsals are Tuesday evenings at 7:00 P.M. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington Street, directly south of Edward Hospital in Naperville. Local Chorus Invites Men Who Like To Sing, To A Guest Night
Naperville, IL – January 3, 2012 - - The Chorus of DuPage, a men’s a cappella barbershop chorus, invites men of all ages who like to sing to a guest night Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 7:15 P.M. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 815 South Washington Street, just south of Edward Hospital in Naperville.
The purpose of this free event is to allow men, from teens to seniors, to experience how much fun it can be to sing barbershop and to perform with a chorus. Beginning singers to experienced singers are welcome. They will have the opportunity to meet new friends, learn fun songs and improve their singing and performance skills in a casual environment. Reservations are not required, but early check in is encouraged.
"If you enjoy singing and are looking for a hobby that will provide a lifetime of enjoyment for you and your whole family then barbershop may be for you,” said Jerry Broz, a ten-year barbershop singer. "The only requirements are that you like to sing, have fun and enjoy fellowship. It is a great hobby for fathers, sons and friends to share."
The Chorus of DuPage is part of the DuPage Valley Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, an international singing organization with more nearly 26,000 men in the United States and Canada.
