Directions: 900 Baseline Road, Boulder Colorado 80302 From 6th Avenue westbound, past "Taj Mahal" Jeffco Gov't Center to 2nd stoplight (at the bottom of the hill, past Colorado School of Mines athletic fields). At this intersection you can turn left to continue on US 6 west to Idaho Springs, or you can turn right onto Colorado 58 east to I-70, OR you can go STRAIGHT which becomes Highway 93 north to Boulder (about 18 miles). You want to take 93 north to Boulder. From I-70 westbound, the exit west of Ward Road is Colorado 58 west. At the stoplight (same as above) you will turn right onto Highway 93 north to Boulder. Once in Boulder, Hwy 93 becomes Broadway. Stay on it to Baseline Road (major stoplight intersection). Turn LEFT going west on Baseline Road. Go up the mountain (a couple miles) until you see Chautauqua State Park on your left. YOUR HERE. Parking is HORRIBLY inadequate. Try driving into the Park and follow the road into the beginning of cabins (permit parking only in the cabin residential area). Turn left toward the Auditorium (and Dining Hall). There are a few small parking lots that are not in front of the cabin residences. Once you find where the Auditorium is, you can drive back out toward Baseline Road. If you are lucky you will find a parking space in one of the small lots. If not, there is on-street parking on Baseline. Wear comfortable shoes to walk back to the Auditorium. You can bring your uniform with you and keep it in the Auditorium during rehearsals. What to bring: Bring WATER. Sheet music is permitted for those who need to use it in the massed chorus performance (but memorizing is recommended). Of course, the Denver MountainAires will not hold music during our performance. Bring money for the BBQ (about $6 - $8) or for the Dining Hall...or brown bag your dinner. Bring family, friends, fans...the Auditorium holds 1,234 (it won't sell out). It's a fun show, great audience to perform for. More about Chautauqua: Check out www.chautauqua.com to learn more about this extraordinary venue. The acoustics are amazing. Boulder Chautauqua is on the National Historic Register. On July 4, 1898, over 4,000 people gathered for the opening day of the Colorado Chautauqua. Today, the Colorado Chautauqua is one of three remaining Chautauquas in the United States, and the only site west of the Mississippi River, in continuous operation, with its original structures intact. Before radio and television, the Chautauqua Movement united millions in common cultural and educational experiences. Orators, performers, and educators traveled a national Chautauqua circuit of more than 12,000 sites bringing lectures, performances, concerts, classes, and exhibitions to thousands of people in small towns and cities. Theodore Roosevelt called Chautauquas, "the most American thing in America." Chautauqua Park is on the National Register of Historic Places and is a local landmark. The Auditorium (1898) has been voted one of the top ten places artists love to play because of its superior acoustics and intimate feel. The Dining Hall (1898) is now open all year, offering excellent cuisine. See you there! TONY Dr. Tony Pranaitis, Chiropractor TonyChiro@juno.com
