About Brooklyn Chorus

Brooklyn Chorus is a female barbershop chorus that meets regularly in Dyker Heights to practice, socialize and have fun. We are a member of Sweet Adelines International.
Sweet Adelines International is worldwide organization of woman singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education and performance. Sweet Adelines International's motto is "Harmonize the World."
Barbershop harmony is a four-part, unaccompanied, close-harmony singing. We sing jazz, show tunes, Disney tunes, oldies, carols, and pop, all arranged in barbershop-style harmony.
Led by our fabulous director Dale Gherman, most of our ladies hail from Brooklyn itself, although a few trek in all the way from Manhattan and even (gasp!) Queens.
We welcome women of all ages to sing with us: our member range from their 20's to 80's and encompass every level of expertise from accomplished professional to raw novice.
Brooklyn Chorus is a member chapter of Greater New York Region 15 of Sweet Adelines International.
We have professional coaches join us several times a year, and there are optional education-filled weekends (VocalFest) if you want to learn the essentials of vocal production, costuming, directing, choreography, and more.
Once a month we sing for the folks of the Norwegian Home, where we rehearse.
