SWEET ADELINES INTERNATIONAL

The 2006 Colonial Theatre Performance --

The Berkshire Hills Chorus gave a wonderful performace on Saturday, November 4, 2006 at the newly renovated Colonial Theatre. They did an original performance entitled “Tropical Paradise.” There were babershop arrangements of popular songs like Kokomo, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, I Hope You Dance, etc.  In addition to performing their own four-part a cappella barbershop harmony, they hosted two guest groups.

The Four Bettys is the current Sweet Adelines International 2nd Place Medalist Quartet from the Chicago area. With a combined 40+ years singing, and numerous national and international awards, they share a passion for performing. Visit their unique website.

Quintessential sang their wide repertoire of a cappella songs. This is a men’s quintet whose members have sung with many local musical groups including the Stockbridge Festival Chorus, Earth Angels, Berkshire Concert Choir, Great Barrington Performing Arts, and the Berkshire Opera before joining together to perform their own unique blend of musical styles.

The Berkshire Hills Chorus hosted junior and senior-high girls and some other young women who are interested in learning barbershop harmony. They joined the chorus for rehearsals on a few Tuesday evenings and then performed several songs on stage. This opportunity is part of Sweet Adelines' Young Women in Harmony program.

The Colonial Theatre has been called "one of the greatest acoustical houses in the entire world." The Berkshire Hills Chorus is proud to have performed in the theater's inaugural season. For more information about the history and renovation of the theater, go to TheColonialTheatre.org.
